It isn’t that hard a question for brides-to-be in Malaysia as there are a wide range of bridal studios offering all kinds of pre-wedding packages at competitive prices. In fact, couples often make this their most important checklist item after the finalisation of their venue. It is an exciting time indeed, especially for the bride-to-be, as this is the opportunity for her to try on gorgeous wedding gowns to magically turn her into that beautiful princess she has always dreamt of.
So, how can you ensure your princess dreams wouldn’t be dashed by a wrong choice of your bridal studio?
Decide Your Budget
- Discuss together what sort of budget you will both be prepared to spend on your bridal package and pre-wedding photographs. Do budget for additional expenses such as photo top-ups, rental of designer or brand new wedding gowns, accessories and others.
Research Several Studios
- Don’t sign up with the first studio you come across. Take some time to survey several bridal studios, learn their jargon and see what each studio is offering before making your choice.
- In Kuala Lumpur, this is easy as the popular roads, Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Loke Yew, are full of bridal studios next to each other which makes it easy to compare and contrast.
Survey Their Gowns
- Ask to take a look at the wedding gowns available when you are surveying. Some shops are really nice and actually allow you to try on some without any commitment so you can decide if you like the gowns they have on offer.
- Do ask if they have different categories of wedding and evening gowns, i.e. VIP or super-VIP ranges as the package they quote you may not include gowns from these ranges.
- Do also ask if they will charge you extra for using a brand new gown. Most bridal studios do.
Observe the Sales Assistant
- Observe if the sales assistant attending to you is helpful and has a good eye in choosing gowns. Some good sales assistants can find you a fantastic gown out of the hundreds available that will make you feel like a million dollars.
- Consider if you can communicate well with the sales assistant as they will be your point of contact should anything go wrong.
- Consider also if it is easy to discuss and negotiate things with your sales assistant. Some persistent couples can sometimes get fantastic deals or great freebies on top of their studio package.
View Their Work
- Ask to view the work of all their photographers and make up artists. Some studios have several photographers and make up artists and you might not know who yours would be till your pre-wedding session.
- Ask if choosing their best photographer will involve paying a premium on your package.
Get Different Opinions
- Read forums such as Malaysia Wedding & Brides Forum or talk to your married friends to get recommendations of bridal studios from them or learn which to avoid.
Good luck in finding the best bridal studio to suit your needs!

Nice site. Informative post too. In recent times, (especially in the SS2 area) bridal studios have been mushrooming rapidly. I got married last year and we selected Vogue Collection for several reasons:
1. we like the work of the photographer there- his name’s Wing. He’s also a very pleasant guy and great at making a couple at ease in front of the camera.
2. the sales assistant, Boey, was extremely helpful and went out of her way to get things done for us
3. we were able to get the most bang for our buck there after a pretty long negotiation on the terms and ‘extras’.
Hi Adrian. Thanks for dropping by
Glad you found my blog useful and hope other brides will find your experience equally useful!
