Planning a wedding is supposed to be a happy time. Unfortunately, some unscrupulous wedding planners can really spoil a happy couple’s planning moments by taking advantage of them. Two cases have already been highlighted to the public to warn them of bogus wedding planners who are out to cheat people of their money. Read the details after the jump.
A wedding planner has today been instructed to pay a couple RM240 out of their RM400 deposit for failing to deliver as promised.
Puteri Aznida told the court that she was displeased with Nurul Azyanis’ services as she did not provide the items that she wanted for her wedding according to what she had ordered.
“For instance, I requested for a gold-coloured wedding gown but when I went to try on the clothes, I was given a cream-coloured one,” she said.
She added that Nurul Azyanis kept postponing their appointments and could not show them the pelamin (wedding dais) even when the wedding was scheduled in two weeks. (source)
This happened only a week after another wedding planner was remanded in court for cheating six couples out of RM65,255.
The wedding planner was said to have offered wedding and reception packages at attractive prices and some of the couples only found out that they were duped just a few days before their wedding day. (source)
It is good to see that the law and authorities are finally doing something to help the many couples who have been cheated and scammed of their finances while planning what is meant to be the happiest day of their lives. Imagine the frustration these couples would have faced upon knowing that they probably might not have the wedding gowns or wedding venues as promised just before their wedding day!
