Dream Wedding Gown

Every bride often longs to have her dream wedding gown. While some brides have their gowns tailor made to their exact dimensions to flatter their figures, other brides who have opted to sign up with a bridal studio package will have to choose their gowns from the range available in the studio.

If you are getting your gown from a bridal studio, here are some tips on how best you can choose your wedding gown to find a gown that will suit you and accentuate your figure so you will look radiant on your wedding day.

Range Of Wedding Gowns Available

In choosing your bridal studio, try to opt for one with a wide range of gowns in various designs so you have more options available when it comes to the final choice of gowns. Research a little on what wedding gown styles might suit you and discuss with the sales assistant if they have those styles available. Some brides go to the lengths of cutting out photos of their favourite styles which might be useful!

Be Open To Wedding Gown Suggestions

Although you might have some ideas in mind, be open to any suggestions the assistants might have. Remember, they do this on a daily basis and have lots of experience in helping brides choose their gowns. Do try some of their suggestions and you might be pleasantly surprised at how well those styles suit you!

Bring A Friend or Sister

It is important to bring someone whose opinions you can trust along with you during your wedding gown selection and fitting. It can be your bridesmaid, sister or mother as long as they are honest with their feedback. Your fiancĂ© might not be the best bet as men tend to be less detailed and critical and might say “yes” just to go home! A second opinion is important as it will be how your guests will perceive you on your wedding day.

Take Photos

If your bridal studio allows it, try to get your friend or sister to snap a few photos of how you look in the gown. Seeing the gown in photos can be quite different from seeing it on yourself and might help make your choice a little easier.

Bring Your Wedding Shoes

If you already have a pair of shoes you intend to wear for the wedding, bring it with you so you will have a good idea of how your dress will look with the shoes. Having your shoes ready will also give the assistant a good idea of how much alteration you might require to ensure you can walk without tripping over the train or hem of your wedding gown.

Wedding Lingerie

Do check if you will have to wear a bra underneath your wedding gown or if the gown comes with built-in bra pads. Most gowns now have built in pads or your assistant might ask you to buy some stick on pads. Depending on the design of the gown, check if a corset might be required to help you look beautiful in your gown.

Wear Good Underwear

Seriously! Your assistant will usually be with you together in the fitting room to help you in and out of their wedding and evening gowns which includes seeing you in your underwear. So leave your inhibitions outside the door and make sure you wear good underwear! ;)

Don’t Rush

Don’t hurry into choosing a design just because the assistant is pressuring you to do so. Take your time to select a gown you like and one that flatters your body shape. If you are feeling exhausted after several trials, consider coming back another day after you have had some time to think about your options.

Finally, don’t be shy about trying on as many gowns as you wish or discussing what you are looking for with your assistant. Trying on many styles and designs might help you have a better idea of what suits your body shape and wedding theme. You can still find your dream wedding gown in a bridal studio if you look hard enough! :)
