Wedding reception centrepieces are often an eye-catching display with a riot of colours. However, flowers and elaborate centrepieces can be expensive, especially for brides on a budget. So, do you need an elaborate floral display for your reception tables? Find out below when you might want a big table centrepiece and whether a little floral posy will do.
Western Wedding Set-Up
If you are having a Western wedding set-up, you can consider having an elaborate table centrepiece as each guest will usually have their own plates around the table. Have something pretty in the middle of your table for them to feast their eyes on or creatively incorporate your wedding favors to be part of your table centrepiece!

Chinese Wedding Set-Up
Chinese weddings are a little more tricky as big plates of food are often put in the centre of the table and each guest is served from that plate. With Chinese weddings, a pretty and elaborate table centrepiece will be removed and forgotten the minute the dinner is served. So, consider having small and simply decorations such as little tealights or small flower posies around the table instead. If you are a budget bride, focus on making your wedding favors pretty because they can double up as the table decoration too!

Malay and Indian Weddings Set-Up
Traditional Malay and Indian wedding dinners are often served on long tables with guests having their own plates. Flowers along the centre of the table will look absolutely lovely to add colour and elegance to your dinner. Flower arrangements do not have to be large and elaborate. Small colourful gerberas with some green leaves will look fresh and delightful for an afternoon reception!

So plan the type of wedding dinner set-up you want before you engage your florist into designing your wedding reception decoration. With some creativity and planning, you can save on expensive florist fees and still have a beautiful centrepiece for your wedding tables.

Elle

Hi, Im a very colourful person, yet I love the simplisity of whites and neutral colours. How does one make the combination work yet keep it elegant for an afternoon summer garden wedding?
I want the wow factor but want to work within a VERY reasoanble budget.
Thank you
Hi Refiloe, you might want to try pairing a bright colour against a white or cream factor. It will certainly add some colour to your summer garden wedding and look absolutely beautiful against a lush, green background. Top it off with lots of fresh flowers which will be cheaper at that time of the year and you’ll have yourself a WOW wedding
