Wedding invitations are a pretty way to announce your wedding but can cost quite a bit for nice and elegant invitations. Making your own wedding invitations can save you some money, however, is it for every bride?
If you are a budget bride and are considering making your own DIY wedding invitations, here are some tips to consider before you embark on your DIY wedding journey!
Enjoy Making Handmade Crafts
Consider making your own DIY wedding invitations only if you enjoy making crafts. I personally do not enjoy crafts all that much so when we did our own handmade wedding invitations, it got pretty tough and tedious when we were sitting bleary-eyed at 1am in the morning glueing on little paper hearts on our cards!

Get Lots Of Help From Bridesmaids and Family
Make your own wedding cards only if you have a ready arsenal of help available. So, beg or bribe your bridal party to start an assembly line to help with your cards! Your fiancĂ©’s or fiancĂ©e’s support here is crucial in making this a success as it might come down to just the two of you to finish up those oustanding cards. My DH was an absolute gem in working on our handmade cards together which made each little card extra special even with all its imperfections!

Keep Your Wedding Invitations Simple
Simple is nice, even more so when you’re making your own cards. The simpler the card, the less work needs to be done on each card which means more time saved and less stress! So while little beads or crystals look really nice on the card, try to go with a simple but elegant design to make things easier on you and your wedding helpers.

Make Wedding Invitations Only For Small Weddings
DIY your wedding cards only if you have a small wedding party. While it is nice to have a personal touch on each card for all your hundreds of guests, remember that it will take lots of time and effort on your part to handmake cards for a huge wedding party. For large weddings, it will be also more economical to go with a professional printer as you will be printing in bulk.

Designing and making your own wedding card is heaps of fun but remember to multiply each card by at least a hundred or more and suddenly the pretty lace card you thought of wouldn’t look so appealing anymore! Do remember too that your cards will probably end up in the bin once your wedding is over which means your hard work and sleepless nights would have gone to waste! So, before you start your DIY Wedding Card Project, stop and think for a minute if you have the right help and interest levels to make this project a success!
With Love,
