Bridal Weight Loss Tips

No bride-to-be ever feels she’s in the right shape for her wedding! Most might worry about being too plump for their wedding gown and some lucky few might feel that they need to put on some weight to fit into the gown of their dreams.

I had the same worries when I was a bride-to-be and panicked over keeping my weight in check after measurements had been done for my gown. Little did I know, brides have a secret weight loss weapon – wedding stress! As stress levels hit the roof in the lead up to my wedding, my weight dropped and my gown actually buttoned easier on my wedding day! :) However, stress isn’t quite the healthiest way to lose weight and neither are these weight loss tips brides sometimes desperately succumb to.

Crash Dieting

Too many brides opt to crash diet as an easy way lose unwanted pounds. While you might see the numbers on the scale dropping, it is usually water loss and not fat.

Wedding Diets

Crash dieting often leaves you tired from lack of food, deprived of nutrition and worst of all, you will put all that weight back and maybe more when you start eating again. You need all the energy you have in planning your wedding so eat sensibly instead of skipping meals.

Over Exercising

On the other end of the scale, some brides get so obsessed about fitting into their dress that they exercise to exhaustion everyday. While some exercise is good, pushing your body too hard is not and it can cause internal injuries if you are not doing it right.

Getting Fit For Your Wedding

So exercise in moderation, you don’t want to be nursing a swollen ankle or painful hamstrings before your wedding!

Slimming Centres

A hugely popular choice amongst Asian brides! It is an easy way to lose weight but can be very expensive as each treatment is not cheap. A friend I know spent close to RM15,000 just to lose some weight before her wedding through a slimming centre!

Wedding Weight Loss

They will usually rip your self-esteem to shreds and put you on a very strict diet and often results are not long lasting as your weight will come back on once you stop the treatments and dieting. Avoid taking slimming pills as well as they are often untested and dangerous. Remember Andrea de Cruz in Singapore who almost died of liver failure as a result of slimming pills?

Remember, not every bride has to be a size 2 on her wedding day. Each bride is unique and so is her body. On her wedding day, the inner radiance and beauty every bride glows with will make her beautiful, regardless of her body shape.

The key to being as beautiful as every bride deserves to be on her wedding day is to start as early as possible and to go with a non-crash diet plan. Pictures of your big day will be taken and the last thing that you want to do is feel self conscious and uncomfortable on the celebration of your union and new life.
