Bridal Beauty Tip: Do not use a longlasting lipstick

I can almost see the puzzlement in your eyes as you read this.

Don’t you want you lipstick to last? After all you can’t be applying and reapplying your lipstick on your wedding day!

Well the reason for not choosing a long lasting lipstick is because long lasting lipsticks tend to be drying. If you don’t believe me, just check out any brand that promises a lipstick that lasts 8 hours or 16 hours and see. They are ALL drying on the lips – its not the fault of the brand, its just that they have to make it stick to your lips and so the texture is bound to be drying and matte.

You do not want dry looking lips on your wedding day or in your wedding photos, so I prefer recommending that you use a glossier more moisturizing lipstick.

Here’s a tip to help the lipstick last.

  • Use a neutral coloured lip pencil or a lip pencil in a matching colour to your lipstick and draw all over your lip, colouring it in.
  • Apply your lipstick on with a lip brush.
  • Blot (”bite” on a piece of tissue paper with your lips)
  • Apply your lipstick again
  • Top up with a touch of gloss

Do note, your lipstick WILL kiss off but the groom shouldn’t mind too much if he has a piece of tissue paper on stand by :)

Oh and do make sure your bridesmaid is standing by with your lipstick of the day!
