One thing I enjoyed most about planning my wedding was the opportunity I had to delve into my own Chinese heritage and culture. It was an interesting eye-opener into our rich traditions and it was fun trying to think of ways to include some Chinese-ness into our Western style wedding. So when I saw this great little idea for unique table numbers, I simply couldn’t wait to share it!
If you are a Chinese bride or groom and wish to infuse your Western-style reception with some Chinese culture, consider using whimsical Chinese calligraphy to number your tables. Get your parents or relatives with Chinese calligraphy skills to write meaningful Chinese words on thick rice paper or cardboard and mount them on card holders. So instead of numbering your tables, call them Happiness, Love, Honour, Respect, Patience and Kindness instead – all important words which make a marriage work and last! Finish each card with a little red seal for everlasting happiness and love!
