So your pretty wedding gown is made and his suit is pressed, you’ve made sure you both have gotten enough rest, done your facials and practised smiling till your face hurt! All that remains is now for you and your dear fiancé to get in front of the camera lenses to ham it up for your pre-wedding or engagement photos! Unfortunately, unless you are both models who are used to having cameras trained on you the whole day, taking pre-wedding photos can be a daunting time! So here are some tips below on how you can enjoy your pre-wedding photo session and have perfect shots!
Don’t Be Afraid To Laugh
Its normal to be nervous about your pre-wedding photoshoot but hey, you both have never looked so beautiful and good so cast your worries aside and enjoy each other’s company! Before you is the man or woman you love and are going to spend your whole life with so don’t smile nervously at each other for that will show in your photos. Instead forget the photographer for a while and laugh, tease or tenderly look at each other to create beautifully natural photographs filled with emotions.

Bring A Gown Fluffer
What is that?! Well, its a willing (or unwilling!) friend or sister who will help you fluff out your gown before each shot to ensure your gown’s train is displayed perfectly behind you and not crumpled. My sis was my gown fluffer during my photoshoot and she did a fantastic job!
If you are with a bridal studio, the make up artist might be able to help you fluff your gown before each shot. Just be sure to ask the photographer to check before he takes the shot.

Don’t Forget Tissues, Straw and Make Up
Outdoor photography looks amazing but often the couple end up drenched in sweat in the tropical heat! This is where you will need your tissues and touch-up make up to avoid shiny faces in your photos! Just remember to DAB with the tissues and not WIPE so you don’t end up wiping off your make up! The straw is to help you rehydrate without smudging your lipstick!

Call Out A Quick Check Before Each Photo
Before your shoot, remind your photographer to let both of you know if there are any adjustments to be done to your clothes. Call out a quick check before each photo is taken to make sure small things don’t go unmissed - a crooked tie, a bunched up train, does he have shiny sweat reflecting off his forehead, is her make up running, are there gaps showing between his pants and socks? These little things matter and you don’t want to be cringing at your pre-wedding photos just because you forgot to check these details.

Finally, enjoy the shoot. For most of us mere mortals, it isn’t everyday that you are dressed up and have a dedicated photographer and cameras pointed at you all day! So smile and enjoy the experience. The fun you’re having will show up for lovely photographs!
With Love,
Elle
