A couple in Britain recently won a lawsuit against their hopelessly inadequate wedding photographer. Marc and Sylvia Day were presented with a disc full of pictures from the big day with heads chopped off, inattentive guests and random close-ups of vehicles. The cutting of the cake was missed and of the 400 images they were sent, only 22 met with their approval. (link)
This is probably the bride and groom’s worst nightmare! A wedding is just one day and there’s absolutely no way the atmosphere and emotion of a wedding can be recreated. So what can you do to ensure your wedding photos don’t turn out like that unlucky couple’s? Read on below for some essential wedding photography tips you simply cannot do without!
Always Hire A Professional Photographer
Professional photographers cost more and you might be tempted to cut corners a little and request for some favours from your friends with SLRs instead. Don’t unless they are experienced photographers. Professional photographers are definitely something you should not scrimp on. Remember, your wedding is just one day but your photos last for a lifetime!

Get A Wedding Photography Coordinator
Get a friend to help with the coordination of your bridal party or family for the official wedding potraits. It will help you save time if you’re pressed for time and ensure you don’t miss out anyone. Request for your coordinator to run a final check on the whole party to make sure no one is blocked and there are no wardrobe malfunctions before your photographer snaps the final photo!

Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
Its your wedding and as much as you want it to be perfect, there will always be small hitches here and there. Take it in stride, laugh and don’t freak out! If you wanted beautiful outdoor shots but it chose to rain instead, go on and take your outdoor shots with colorful umbrellas. It creates a unique photo opportunity!

Be Yourself
Just because its your wedding day, it doesn’t mean you have to be someone you’re not. So if you feel like laughing, go ahead and if you’re a couple who enjoys a little bit of good fun, build it into your wedding. Those spontaneous moments create beautiful photos you might cherish more than the posed shots.

Finally, just remember to have fun. You’ve spent months of sleepless nights and busy days just planning for this special day of your life. Cherish every moment and don’t let it slip away! Relaxed and happy brides make for wonderful photos, stressed brides don’t!
With Love,
